High Silica vs. Medium Silica Fabric
High silica fabric contains at least 96% silica and is designed for continuous service at 1000°C. It is selected for extreme thermal protection, furnace, aerospace, nuclear-energy and heavy-industry applications.
Medium silica fabric contains 70% ±5% silica and provides continuous service at 800°C. It generally offers higher tensile strength and abrasion resistance than high silica fabric, with good post-processing after heat setting.
Select the material from continuous and peak temperature, mechanical handling, abrasion, electrical insulation, chemical exposure and fabrication requirements—not temperature alone.
